Convert any freezer into a kegerator or fermentation chamber with the Kegco TC-321 Digital Thermostat Power Control. This device overrides an appliances’ thermostat, regulating the amount of energy getting to the appliance and allowing you precise control over the temperature settings and the amount of temperature fluctuation between cycles. The control has a setpoint range of -40 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit for a wide variety of uses and settings, including controlling the power to a freezer to prevent it from getting too cold, or controlling the power to a terrarium to prevent it form getting too hot and maintaining a stable environment. The TC-321 features pre-wired cords with a plug to install in your electrical socket and a receptacle to plug your appliance into for easy installation, and an LCD display that can show set temperature, real temperature and other control functions. This temperature controller has both heating and cooling modes with adjustable setpoint and differential as well as the ability to set a temperature alarm that will alert you if the appliance is too far outside the operating range you enter. A waterproof remote temperature sensor monitors the temperature inside the appliance while the display can be mounted outside, allowing you to make adjustments without having to open and close the door of the appliance. Adhesive tape is provided for mounting the display panel to the exterior of the appliance and a suction cup on the sensor wire allows you to place it inside the appliance and out of the way of its contents.

This review is from: Kegco TC-321 Digital Thermostat Control Unit Purchased this to run the heating/cooling on my conical fermenter for homebrewing. I was under the impression that it would control both heating and cooling at the same time but that’s not the case. You can plug both the heater and the cooling mechanism in at the same time but the controller will operate only one at a time. I put it in cooling mode during the primary fermentation so it doesn’t over heat then I have to keep an eye on the temp and switch it to heat if the temp drops. Second of all, if you do buy it, it will probably not work the way you want it to. Also, I received a most likely returned product. If you buy one and if it looks like the one I have pictured don’t even bother plugging it in. I got my unit and wanted to test to see if it would switch from cooling to heating and low and behold it didn’t. I was lied to by the people that sell this item (see email below). Not only did in not switch, the cooling function didn’t work at all. Even if the function wouldn’t work I expected to see the symbol change from the “sun” the “snowflake” it didn’t. Wow just WOW!!! The reason I bought it was because they said it would do what I asked. I emailed asking if the item will switch from cooling to heating and vice versa automatically. However, this is not the case I plugged in a heater and a fan it the appropriate spots, the heating would kick on but once it was above the temp it would shut off but never kick the cooling on. I am using this to control the temperature on a converted fridge kegerator. So far, this has functioned flawlessly. l like that the differential can be adjusted so that I can have tight temperature control, or if I want to save power and increase compressor life I can set the differential higher. It cycles my fridge on and off appropriately to the differential that I set. It is very east to setup and change temp/differential presets. My only complaint is that there is no option to keep the backlight on. It stays on for a couple of minutes (or so) and then shuts off. When the backlight is off, it is difficult to read the temperature display. The backlight certainly can’t draw much power, and it runs off of AC power, not battery, so I’d like the option of being able to keep it on all the time if I choose to. 0 |
