It’s really LOUD and guests in my home have not noticed any pleasant scents or changes. For me not worth money. I live in the desert and was also expecting a little extra moisture in the air. None.

I was recently at a friends house and was amazed at how effective these air fresheners worked. She usually has 4 dogs in her house and some cats with the typical litter box odors plus the doggie smell when you first open the door. Its like it clings to the carpets even with a clean house.. BUT….after her putting the Rainmate IL in and adding the scented oil extract (just takes a Tablespoon) all that foulness was gone. In its place was freshness and..like fresh breath and gum.

I came home and ordered mine that day. Put it in a central location…I have an open floor plan and love it. Have had delivery people tell me my house always smells so good, even with a dog.

The machine is electric and uses water in the bottom of the tank with your preferred pure scented oil…just a Tsp does my whole house. The water gets changed every 3 days or when it gets lower than the fill line and that’s pretty much it. Think like small humidifier almost as far as the maintance. This is so much better than scented candles and plug ins…and cheaper too. Its made by the Rainbow vac people so you know its quality stuff or at least I feel like it is.

I was given this as a gift. It does seem to remove allergens from the air, but it makes too much noise so I can’t use it at night, when I need it most. (I live in CA, where plants pollinate at night due to the heat.) The scents are much too strong and ‘perfumey’ for someone like myself, who has multiple allergies. The odors choked me, and even after I stopped using the scents and washed it, the aroma was still being emitted.

So now it sits on my shelf, unused. Glad it was a gift so I didn’t waste any money on it. I’ll let it sit around for a while so my friend feels appreciated, then quietly donate it to my locate thrift store.

It might be okay if you don’t mind continuous loud noise and have a room that really reeks. I thought about moving it to the laundry room because I keep the cat box there, but the cats are afraid of it, so it’s not even good for that. I liked my ionizer much better, so I’ll probably get another one of those. If you really have problems with allergies, I’d recommend an ionizer instead of this.
